Keel Laying of the VIRGINIA
Over 300 people gathered during Heritage Days in Bath on July 3, 2011 for the keel laying of VIRGINIA. It was a festive celebration with singing, speakers, and the lifting of the keel. Allison Hepler was chairperson for the celebration and it went off without a glitch. Merry Chapin was the MC and did a terrific job. There were supporters and visitor from as far as England to participate in the celebration. Below is a video of the final Keel Lifting part of the ceremony.
